UTTRAKHAND

 
 
''Abode of the Gods'', Uttrakhand comprises the north-western 13 districts of the former state of Utter Pradesh. The state came into being on 9th November, 2000. Itis bounded on the northwest by Himachal Pradesh, on the south and southwest by Utter Pradesh and shares its international borders with Nepal on the east and China on its north.
The land with a never ending history and unlimited legends is the holy land of Ganga, and Yamuna and the Chardhams' - Badarinath, Haridwar, Kedarnath, and Rishikesh. The state consists of two regions-Garhwal in the west and Kumaon in the east. Both the regions are blessed with exceptional natural beauty, and are studded with stunning snow clad peaks. The northern mountains covers about nine-tenth of the total area of the state. lt is the land of a dozen hill station, sancturaries and pilgrim centres. The forests here have awesome variety of flora and fauna.

PUNJAB AND CHANDIGARH


The word 'Punjab' is made up to two persian words 'Panj' and 'Aab', Panj means five and Aab means rivers. The state is divided into three regious by its great rivers. The Majha north of river Beas, the Doaba sandwiched between the rivers Satluj and Beas and the Malwa South of the Sutluj river. Lying north-west of india, Punjab had to take a lot of battle ring from the invaders, the Persians, Mauryans, Scythians, Parthians, Kushan and them the mughals. The Sikh faith, which played a decisive role in the cretion of the punjabi-speaking state came into being the 15th and 16th centuries. It was founded as a new religious order by Shri Guru Nanak and was followed by nine Gurus. With the partítion iño West and East between Pakistan and india.
Punjab has an amazing wealth of tourist destinations, Punjab is a travellers dream, a gourmets paradise, a shoppers delight, a sportsman's inspiration, a musicians Mecca, a dancers delight. It is the land of pilgrimage, archaeological digs, palaces, museums and hostorical sites, Sword arm of india, Punjab is the freedom fighters home.
CHANDIGARH:- The first planned modern city of india, is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. It has been a union territory, Designed and planned by French architect Le Corbusier, the city has several self-contained sectors,each 246 acres,rectangular 1.2 km. by 0.8 km. with its own market place, hospitals, educational institutions, places of worship, gardens and open play grounds.

HIMACHAL PRADESH


Himachal Pradesh is situated right in the lap of the Himalayan ranges. The state is almost entirely mountainous with attitude ranging from 460 to 6600 metres above sea level. Physiographically, the state can be divided into two regions. The south part which is almost as hot as the plains and the northern region that has temperate summers but winters which are extremely cold with heavy snowfall.
Himachal Pradesh is studded with a number of hill stations which are refreshingly cool in summer. Khajiar in Chamba district has earned the name 'Mini Switzerland' , because of the striking similarity in landscape. The state abounds in wildlife with some rare species of birds and animals. The rivers offer ideal fishing grounds. The state also offers adventure sports like skiing, trekking, water rafting and mountaineering. Agriculture and horticulture are the mainstay of the states economy. The state is renowned as the 'Apple land of india'
