PUNJAB AND CHANDIGARH


The word 'Punjab' is made up to two persian words 'Panj' and 'Aab', Panj means five and Aab means rivers. The state is divided into three regious by its great rivers. The Majha north of river Beas, the Doaba sandwiched between the rivers Satluj and Beas and the Malwa South of the Sutluj river. Lying north-west of india, Punjab had to take a lot of battle ring from the invaders, the Persians, Mauryans, Scythians, Parthians, Kushan and them the mughals. The Sikh faith, which played a decisive role in the cretion of the punjabi-speaking state came into being the 15th and 16th centuries. It was founded as a new religious order by Shri Guru Nanak and was followed by nine Gurus. With the partítion iño West and East between Pakistan and india.
Punjab has an amazing wealth of tourist destinations, Punjab is a travellers dream, a gourmets paradise, a shoppers delight, a sportsman's inspiration, a musicians Mecca, a dancers delight. It is the land of pilgrimage, archaeological digs, palaces, museums and hostorical sites, Sword arm of india, Punjab is the freedom fighters home.
CHANDIGARH:- The first planned modern city of india, is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. It has been a union territory, Designed and planned by French architect Le Corbusier, the city has several self-contained sectors,each 246 acres,rectangular 1.2 km. by 0.8 km. with its own market place, hospitals, educational institutions, places of worship, gardens and open play grounds.
